Strategic Plan

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), in partnership with the Atlanta-Region Transit Link Authority (ATL), and GDOT, conducted the I-285 Express Lanes Study (the Study) to explore opportunities for premium transit service within the I-285 EL. The Study builds and expands upon the 2022 I-285 Top End Rapid Transit Segment Station Plan (the 2022 Plan), a collaborative planning effort between MARTA and ATL, which explored the use of transit within the I-285 EL corridor, identified 12 preliminary station locations , outlined elements such as station location and type (i.e., inline or offline), and proposed various sets of routes (service plan alternatives) within the I-285 corridor.
